With-God Education Course

The stories we believe form our idea or image of God. This image is foundational to all aspects of life, including education, as it affects everything. It profoundly influences the way we relate with God, ourselves, others, and the world around us. Life and education are all about these interdependent relationships.

In this unit, we are invited to pay attention to our professed and operational image of God and discern between the healthy and unhealthy images of God. We will explore the ways in which we can identify, reflect on, and embark on an interactive journey with Christ for the healing of our distorted image of God.

We each play a significant role in our story on earth. This role is shaped by who we perceive ourselves to be. God’s Great Love Story teaches us that we are His beloved, but fully embracing this truth and living from its core are two distinct challenges. Restor(y)ing our image of self is crucial for growing in freedom and growing into what God created us to be.

In this unit, we will explore how our ideas of self have affected us. This journey will enable us discover and embrace our uniqueness, deepest desires, specific calling and unique vocation. In doing so, we will be better equipped to see our children as beloved of God and guide them in embracing their uniqueness, desires, calling and vocation. Additionally, we will learn gentle ways to nurture and care for our soul.

Our Triune God invites us to participate in the life of the Trinity through a conversational and friendship relationship with God.

In this unit, we will explore the experience of a With-God life, a life in the kingdom of God, here and now. We will learn to create space to listen deeply, discern and respond to God’s voice in a conversational relationship. We will also learn how to cooperate with God through different means of grace as disciplines to grow into Christlikeness and become more like Jesus.

A With-God Life involves all aspects of life, including education. This leads us to the quest of how we can partner with God in every area of our life, including education, which leads us to the realm of With-God education for our children.

Restor(y)ing life and education invites us to discover and embrace our uniqueness and live out the unique call and purpose that God has created each of us for. In this unit, we learn to pay attention and recognize the unique purpose for ourselves and our children.

Children have a keen sense of God’s reality. As adults, we can either help them or prevent them from coming near to Christ. In this unit, we will see how beauty, goodness, wonder, and truth are windows through which children experience God in their lives. We will learn what it means to recognize and cooperate with God’s ever-present and active work in the lives of our children as He is forming them in the likeness of his Son Jesus.

Listening is an expression of love. When we listen well, we communicate value, and grace. We will explore questions like how can we grow to listen deeply to our children? How does listening well make space for Christ in our children and even in us?

Children interact with life through play. If we as adults want to engage well with our children, then we must enter this world as well. This module will help us look at different ways in which we can engage with play to help children grow in their intimacy and friendship with Jesus.

Children are created in the image of God. This means their whole being makes connections in its own unique ways. In this unit we are invited to explore these ways of connections to help children make sense and meaning of the world around them.

What is a loving and gracious way of approaching the questions and challenges our children face in this generation? Questions around gender dysphoria, sexual identity, addictions are real and relevant to this generation as never before. How do we address these and other issues ? We will reflect and understand these and other such questions in this module

The vision we have developed will help us choose subjects and content tailored to our children’s interests. We will examine the requirements of the Indian National Curriculum Framework (NCF) and various prevalent curriculums to guide our curriculum and content selection. Additionally, we will work on developing annual plans.

Once we have a clear vision of With-God education for Spiritual Formation, we will explore how each subject can be a means for spiritual formation. In Restor(y)ing each of these subjects, we aim to un-hide the beauty, wonder, goodness and truth in creation that reveals the glory of God in the images of God in creation.

We will discuss the purpose, learning objectives, teaching-learning experiences, and assessment from a With-God Education perspective for subjects like Languages, History, Geography, Math, Science, Arts, Sports and Technology. Additionally, we will also plan and prepare unit plans and lesson plans.

Spiritual formation is best nurtured within a community. Therefore, we will form co-ops of families to develop curriculums, and unit plans fostered in collaboration through prayer, planning, and discussion as part of God’s Beloved Community.
